Sakhir, is the largest contiguous desert in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It lies in the Southern Governorate of Bahrain and hosts some of the most inhospitable terrain on the island kingdom; Barren peaks -charred by the molten Summer Sun- and smoldering sand dunes dot the flat vistas of this barren expanse. Whilst the Sands of Sakhir are largely void of terrestrial life, they are not barren; flowing beneath its tarry sands is the life-blood of Bahrain: its oil.
