The Khamis Mosque (مسجد الخميس) is the first mosque constructed in Bahrain. Built with stone and wood during the era of the Ummayad caliph Umar II, the Khamis Mosque stands as one of the oldest mosques in the region today, with its foundation laid in 692 AD.
